Beverly JoAnn Gavigan, 88, of Ludington, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at home. She was born November 30, 1935, in Cadillac, the daughter of Russell and Beatrice (Burke) Loomis.
Beverly graduated from Ludington High School in 1953 and then studied interior design. On September 15, 1956, at St. Simon Catholic Church, Beverly married Leonard James Gavigan. Beverly owned and operated Interiors by Beverly from 1982 until her retirement in 2013.
Beverly was very loved and respected by her family, friends and clients. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, skiing, sailing, reading and playing golf. Most of all, she loved entertaining her family and friends with lavish dinners and parties for the holidays, birthdays and special events.
Beverly was an active member of St. Simon Catholic Church.
She is survived by: her children, Leonard Gavigan of Grand Rapids, Kerry (Amy) Gavigan of Manistee, Kelly Thomas of Ludington, Colleen (Jack) Willits of Grand Haven, and Eileen Gavigan of Perrysburg, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sister, Dilly (Kenway) Smith; her sister-in-law, Judy Loomis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by: her husband, Leonard James Gavigan in 2014, her sister, Amy Kistler; her brothers, Jerry Loomis and Terry Loomis; and her son-in-law, Jim Thomas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will be in the Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Humane Society of one’s choice.
