LOGAN TOWNSHIP — A 72-year-old Nunica man was seriously injured in an ORV rollover crash on South Binger Road Saturday, Aug. 17, around 1:30 p.m., according to Michigan State Police Cadet Dante Richards of the Hart post.
The man, who was a passenger on a Polaris Ranger, was ejected from the side-by-side and crushed by it, said Cadet Richards. The man was transported by ambulance to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital. The driver, who is a 50-year-old Walkerville man, and a passenger, who is a 48-year-old Walkerville man, were also injured in the crash, he said. An additional passenger, a 15-year-old Muskegon boy, was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. The other passengers were not wearing seat belts, and it was not immediately known if the driver was.
The Ranger was going around a curve and it went into a “power slide,” causing it to go airborne, said Richards. The ORV was extensively damaged in the crash.
“At this time, it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.”
Emergency units that responded to the scene included Michigan State Police, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Carr Area Fire Department, Custer Fire Department, Lake Township Fire Department, and Life EMS.
