LUDINGTON — The Mason County Historical Society will hold its second annual gala on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Stearns Hotel. The event is a major fundraiser for the Society.
“We held our first gala last year to coincide with the Ludington sesquicentennial and it was a big hit,” said Rebecca Berringer, executive director the historical society. “The event included skits that featured Ludington historical characters, which we will be doing again this year.”
This year’s featured skit will be a short play featuring the fictional character Oswald Crumb, who was created by artist/entrepreneur Robert Stearns.
The event, which begins at 7 p.m., will also feature a presentation by James Jensen, president of the historical society, dinner, music and dancing. Attendees are encouraged to dress in historical clothing (the era of their choosing).
The cost is $75 per person. Click here to purchase tickets.
The Mason County Historical Society is a non-profit charitable organization that was founded in 1937. While at one time the Society was supported by a local tax millage, it has operated autonomously, without taxpayer support, for over 30 years. Its mission is to preserve and present Mason County’s rich history, inspiring visitors to appreciate and engage with their heritage. The Society owns and operates Historic White Pine Village in Pere Marquette Township, the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum in Ludington and the Mason County Research Center in downtown Ludington.
