BRANCH TOWNSHIP —Two suspects were arrested on warrants following a traffic stop at the intersection of Schoenherr and Decker roads Thursday, July 25, around 9 p.m. after a “be on the lookout” alert was issued for a vehicle that had been involved in the purchase of $1,996 in lottery tickets from the Branch Grocery store on East US 10, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

Four suspects were identified following a traffic stop related to the case, which alleges the suspects purchased lottery tickets with suspected stolen credit cards, said Sheriff Cole.

A 24-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant issued in Calhoun County for unauthorized use of a vehicle, and a 24-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant issued in Calhoun County.

It is suspected that this case may be related to a recent similar case in which two male suspects reportedly bought over $1,700 in scratch-off lottery tickets on a stolen credit card at the Hamlin Grocery store on North Jebavy Drive in Hamlin Township, July 15. “We suspect so, but do not have a direct connection yet,” said Cole.
