Dear Editor,

We the undersigned, being current or former Michigan prosecutors, and having known and worked with Jordan Miller, current Republican candidate for Mason County Prosecutor, write this letter in solidarity to endorse Mr. Miller for the upcoming August 6 election. (Editor’s note, Miller is one of three Republican candidates running in the primary election).

Each of us has known Mr. Miller, both personally and professionally, for several years. We have worked with him, either in his capacity as an assistant prosecutor and/or during his tenure in private practice or the Michigan Court of Appeals.  We can state, with confidence, the following about him:

  • He is an experienced attorney, having handled criminal cases for over 10 years, not only as a prosecutor, but also as a defense attorney and a judicial law clerk;
  • He is a person of good judgment and outstanding moral character;
  • He is committed to the cause of justice;
  • He cares deeply for his community;
  • He has a detailed understanding of criminal law and the criminal justice system;
  • He is a compassionate and zealous advocate for victims’ rights;
  • He is a fierce defender of constitutional principles and the constitutional rights of the accused;
  • He makes fair charging decisions based on the facts and law, without regard to politics; and
  • He is well-respected not only by fellow prosecutors, but, in our opinion, by law enforcement, judges, and defense attorneys alike for being tough but fair;

Having known and worked with Mr. Miller, we believe that he is well-qualified and prepared to be the next Mason County Prosecutor, and we join together to voice our support for his candidacy.

Respectfully,

Jason Haag, Manistee County Prosecutor

Paul Spaniola, former Mason County Prosecutor (retired)

Jonathan Hauswirth, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Prosecutor

Chad DeRouin, Iron County Prosecutor

Jeffrey Rogg, Menominee County Prosecutor

Shayne Machen, former Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Prosecutor
