VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The ninth Muddy Fox Trot at West Shore Community College was held on Saturday, July 20 and included 340 participants, making it the biggest Muddy Fox Trot yet.  The family-friendly, three-mile run and obstacle course included 13 challenging obstacles, such as muddy moguls, wooden break walls, and a mud crawl.

Julie Page Smith, director of the WSCC Wellness Center, and the race, attributed the success of the event to the many volunteers and sponsors.

“Many thanks to our awesome sponsors, in-kind donors, and volunteers who helped to make sure our 340 participants (a record number) had a blast,” said Smith. Sponsors and volunteers that helped make this event successful included:

  • WSCC employees and Recreation Center members
  • Corewell Health
  • Scottville Fire Department
  • Erin Doan Insurance Agency
  • ACE 1 Port-A-Potty
  • AM Custom Creations

Many participants had high praise for the event.

“We have many of our team members here this year. They had such a great time that we will be back next year,” Reed City Cross Country Coach Rich Saladin said.
“This is a day that truly is about bringing our community together for some family-friendly fitness while raising money for the WSCC Foundation,” said Smith. This year’s event raised over two thousand dollars, which will help provide scholarships to deserving students.
Next year marks the 10th Muddy Fox Trot, set for July 19, 2025. Plans are underway to make it the biggest event yet. For more information, please contact Julie Page Smith at 231-843-5949 or jsmith@westshore.edu.
