Richard Lee Haldeman, 91 Years Young, of Ludington, formerly of Boyne City and Royal Oak, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, while under hospice care.

Richard was born on April 12, 1933, to Frederick C. Haldeman Sr. and Toreeca M. (Nee: Furgeson) Haldeman in Romeo.

After Richard graduated from Romeo High School in 1951, he served two years in the United States Army and was stationed in France during the Korean War.  After being honorably discharged, Richard returned stateside to continue his life-long career with Ford Motor Company in Michigan.

In 1960, Richard met Judith L. Vanderlist while out with friends in Ferndale.  Richard and Judy were married in June 1961 and went on to have three sons, Duane, Derek, and Dean, settling down to suburban life in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Richard retired from Ford Motor Company in 1993 after working 41 years as a senior mechanic for the Experimental Engineering Department at the Sterling Heights plant.  The following year Richard and Judy moved to Boyne City, where he served as a board member on the Villa De Charlevoix HOA.  Richard enjoyed retirement in northern Michigan boating on Lake Charlevoix and traveling with Judy on camping expeditions across the United States.

Richard was proceeded in death by his siblings, Frederick Jr., Robert, Gary, and Mary (nee: Wyffels) Haldeman; and brother-in-law, Michael Vanderlist.

He is survived by his wife, Judy: children, Duane (Ilise nee: Rosen) Haldeman, Derek (Bonnie nee: Rodgers) Haldeman, and Dean (Karen nee: Muszynski) Haldeman; brother, Joseph (Carol nee: Norton) Haldeman; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (nee: Pierson) Haldeman, Barbara (nee: Barker) Haldeman, Pamela nee: Miner; and Melanie nee: Vanderlist (Thomas) Sokol; brother-in-law, Mark (Mary Beth nee: Schnetzler) Vanderlist; as well as five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ludington, Michigan at a date to be announced.
