Harriet Emmerling Feria, affectionately known by her family as Dolly, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the age of 82 in Ludington. Born on August 28, 1941, in Batesville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Johnye Harris and grew to be a beloved figure in her community and beyond. Because of her sweet, loving nature, everyone who met her loved her.

Harriet graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s of education degree, a testament to her passion for lifelong learning and teaching. Her educational journey deeply influenced her professional and personal life, enriching the lives of many who knew her.

Throughout her life, Harriet was a devout Christian. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church and also a beloved parishioner at Summit Church of Christ, where she formed lasting relationships and found great solace in her faith.

Harriet leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Bruce) Doggett, Heidi (Tony) Silveira, and Michael (Sarah) Emmerling; her cherished grandchildren, Angela (Leo) Martinez, Maxwell (Brittany) Doggett, Sarah Doggett, Hannah Doggett, Aaron (Olivia) Gahagan, Benjamin Gahagan, Faith (Ralph) Bejko, and Luke Emmerling; along with her adored great-grandchildren, Emiliano, Mateo, Ezekiel, Gabriel Martinez, Kieran, Quinn, Kennedy, and Kilian Doggett.

Harriet’s kindness, wisdom, and indomitable spirit, love of God and wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering support, her nurturing nature, and her enduring commitment to her family and faith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, with Father Matt Barnum presiding.  Interment will follow in the Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery in Pere Marquette Township.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.
