Obituary: Cynthia (Hall) Hooper, 83, of Ludington

Cynthia L. (HallHooper, 81, of Ludington, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Cyndy was born on June 4, 1943 in Ludington, the daughter of Herbert “Budd” and Anne E. (Hamilton) Hall and graduated from Mason County Central High School.  She furthered her education at Muskegon Business College and Western Michigan University and worked in the accounting department for Community West Credit Union (formerly Steelcase Employees Credit Union) retiring in 2003.

Cyndy and her husband, Thomas J. Hooper, were able to fulfill their shared retirement plans by purchasing a motor home and traveling all over this great country with their beloved dog Woofie.

Cyndy was a very active member of the Scottville Methodist Church where she served as the bell choir director, was a member of the Chancel Choir, served on the Worship Committee, on the Foundation board, and was a member of the United Methodist Women.  She also taught Sunday school and volunteered during Vacation Bible School every year.

Cyndy was preceded in death by her daughter Sara Anne Hall; her parents Budd and Anne Hall; her brother-in-law Michael Turner; and her sister-in-law Jeannene Hall.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Thomas Hooper; her stepmother Doris Hall; her brother Herbert Devon Hall; her sister Carol A. Turner; her niece Anne Bea Hall; Tom’s children Kevin (Patty) Hooper, Darin (Jamie) Hooper, Dawn (David) Rentmeester, and Tamara (Michael) Laurila; 12 grandchildren, Stephen (Sarah) Hooper, Kyle and Kailey Hooper, Sophie and Isaac Hooper, Kory Hooper, Mya, William, Sam, and Eleanor Rentmeester, and Hannah and Jack Laurila; and her great-granddaughters Aila Grace and Vera Joy Hooper.

A ceremony to celebrate Cyndy’s life will be held later this summer at the Scottville Methodist Church with day and time to be announced later.  Those who wish to remember Cyndy with a memorial donation are asked to please consider the Cyndy Hooper Bell Choir Memorial Fund at Scottville Methodist Church.
