Pinconning man in custody following threat at hotel

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 40-year-old Pinconning man is in custody following an incident at a local hotel. Police were dispatched to the Comfort Inn, 5323 US-10, about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, deputies initially responded to a call of a man at the hotel brandishing a gun and making threats. The area surrounding the hotel was blocked off by police and fire department units as law enforcement officers donned tactical gear.

Cole said the situation had been contained to a specific area of the hotel and there was no threat to the public. The man was taken into custody about 9 p.m. Cole said he has been charged with two counts of felony assault and one county of brandishing a firearm. He will likely be arraigned Wednesday.

Units on scene included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Ludington Police Department, Michigan State Police, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department, and Life EMS.
