SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — Two people received minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash today, April 10, at the intersection of Pere Marquette Highway and Meisenheimer Road. The crash involved a Ford Explorer, which was eastbound on Meisenheimer Road, and a Honda Pilot that was northbound on Pere Marquette Highway. The crash occurred when the driver of the Explorer, a 42-year-old male from Amber Township, presumably failed to stop at the intersection and struck the Pilot, driven by a 20-year-old New Era woman. The Explorer ended up in the parking lot of Summit Church of Christ, only a few feet from the building. Initial dispatch information stated a person was trapped in one of the vehicles, but firefighters on scene reported that nobody was trapped. Both drivers, were transported to Corewell Health Ludington Hosptial by ambulance, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at 8:13 a.m. and included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Riverton Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department and Life EMS.
