AMBER TOWNSHIP — For the first time since 2019, the Mason County Central Educational Foundation’s Community Auction will be held in person. The auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at the Graystone Event Center, located at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 4079 W. US 10-31.
This is the 29th year of the auction, which typically raises about $30,000 a year for the school’s foundation. Tickets are $35 per person which can be purchased at West Shore Bank in Scottville, Smith & Eddy Insurance in Scottville or the Chamber Alliance of Mason County in Ludington.
There will be no online component. The auction will only be in-person.
This year’s auction, with the theme of “Pirates of the Caribbean, will include over 400 items in live and silent auctions. Categories include home, crafts, outdoor, entertainment, sports, service, golf and tools. Of those items, about 70 will be auctioned by MCC alumnus and auctioneer Joe Johnson.
“We are thrilled to be able to hold the auction live again this year,” said Gary Anderson, one of the event’s organizers. “While we’ve had great success over the last three years with an online auction, we have had a tremendous amount of requests to bring the auction back live. This is not only an event that raises money for our kids it is also the top social event of the late winter in Mason County.”
Anderson said a variety of items will be auctioned off but the most popular is typically a puppy. This year a 14-month-old female golden doodle puppy will be up for auction.
In addition to the auction items the event will also feature raffles along with food and beverages. Many of the auction items can be viewed over the next week at the West Shore Bank Scottville office, 107 W. State St.
