Sheriff’s office warns residents of phone scam
LUDINGTON — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a phone scam.
The sheriff’s office announced Wednesday, Feb. 7, that there is “a phone scam going around where they are using the sheriff’s office information,” states post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page.
“The caller states he is Sgt. Brown from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office trying to solicit personal information from the person they are calling. The caller is telling the person that they are being contacted in reference of DNA on file, and that there is a warrant for their arrest. Then they proceed to ask for payment to comply. THIS IS A SCAM!!!!
“Provide no personal information to the caller and hang up. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.”
