Crashes shut down US 10-31

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Two separate crashes shut down US 10-31 between Stiles and Dennis roads Tuesday afternoon. The first crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. and involved a Ford F-350 Super Duty pick-up truck and a Chrysler 300. The pick-up truck, with snowplow, ended up rolled on its side on the south side of the road. An additional crash then occurred just east of the first crash and involved a GMC SUV and a Ford Flex. According to Mason County sheriff’s deputies on scene, there were no serious injuries in either crash. None of those involved required medical transport. The crashed vehicles blocked the lanes on both sides of the highway, causing law enforcement to divert traffic. As of 2:30 p.m. the highway was still closed.

Emergency crews responding included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Scottville Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department (disregarded) and Life EMS ambulance.

Road conditions are slippery due to low temperatures and lake effect snow is causing limited visibility.
