Obituary: William Cox, 90, of Ludington

William Henry Cox, 90, of Ludington, passed away on November 24, 2023. He was born on June 22, 1933, the son of Clarence Cox Sr. and Theresa Ventrice. In 1957, William married the love of his life, Shirley L. (Hackert) Cox.

William was a skilled mechanic and a devoted dairy farmer. For over five decades, he worked tirelessly on Cox Farms, a family-owned business that he took great pride in. From repairing machinery to milking cows, William’s expertise and commitment ensured the success of the farm.

Beyond his professional endeavors, William found solace in his cherished hobbies. Farming was not just a livelihood for him; it was a way of life. He delighted in driving tractors across the fields, tending to the animals, and nurturing the land. His love for his family and friends was evident in every interaction, and he cherished the time spent with them.

William is survived by his lovely wife, Shirley Cox; children, William M. (Marcine) Cox and Alice L. Schuring; grandchildren, Tyler Cox, Casandra (Richard) Wahr, and Shianne L. Schuring; great-grandchildren, Bristol Cox, Raima Cox, and Alexis Wahr; sister, Margie Stajszckak; sisters-in-law, Loretta Cox, Gloria Wagner, Carolyn (Robert) Hoffdal, and Linda Hackert.

William was preceded in death by his grandson, William C. Cox; brother, Clarence Cox; sisters, Bertha Rienhart, and Rosemarie Baistien; sisters-in-law, Gerldine Malkowski and Janice Sheridian; brothers-in-law, John Wagner, Merton Hackert, David Hackert, Jerome Sheridian, William Makowski; son-in-law, John H. Schuring.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington with visitation starting at noon.
