‘Highly intoxicated’ woman allegedly kicks deputy and spits on him

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — A 38-year-old Ludington woman was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies Friday, Oct. 6, shortly after 9 p.m. at Neil Street and Illinois Road following a 911 call reporting “a highly intoxicated female causing a disturbance at a residence,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
“The suspect left the residence and started walking/stumbling in the roadway,” said Sheriff Cole. “She was offered a ride, at which time she became irate and started swearing at deputies. She was removed from the road, and pushed a deputy. She then reportedly kicked the deputy in the chest and spit on him.”
The woman is charged with disorderly person and assaulting/resisting/obstructing police.

- 7:28 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Mavis Road east of US 31, Sherman Township.
- 9:32 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Darr and Hawley roads, Eden Township.
- 8:29 p.m., (MCSO), a 19-year-old Scottville man was arrested on an outstanding Mason County retail fraud warrant after deputies were called to a retail fraud at Walgreen’s, South Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township. It was reported that the suspect had left on foot, and he was found in the area and arrested on the outstanding warrant.
- 10:08 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 20-year-old Ludington man was arrested for domestic assault, 900 block of East Lawndale Road, City of Ludington. No injuries were reported. The man was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023:
- 11:45 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Meisenheimer Road east of Deren Road, Summit Township.
Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023:
- 2:25 a.m., (LPD), a 31-year-old Ocean Springs, Mississippi woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated, Jebavy Drive and US 10, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
- 6:25 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Fountain Road west of Peterson Road, Victory Township.
- 10:29 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township.
- 5:07 p.m., (MCSO), larceny of a 20-pound propane tank, 3600 block of North Stiles Road, Victory Township.
- 5:11 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Quarterline Road north of Nurnberg Road, Grant Township.
- 5:23 p.m., (MCSO), a 46-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on an outstanding Ottawa County Friend of the Court warrant following a 911 call reporting a disturbance, Sunset Lane, Summit Township.
- 8:04 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Stiles Road south of Fisher Road Victory Township.
No activity over the weekend was reported by the Scottville Police Department. The Hart post of the Michigan State Police had no Mason County activity to report from over the weekend.
