Obituary: Thomas Courteau, 66, of Scottville
Thomas M. Courteau, 66, of Scottville passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Poppin Hospice Residence in Muskegon. Thomas was born on June 2, 1957 in Pontiac, the son of Lee D. and Cora D. (Feldmann) Courteau and graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1976. Tom moved to Scottville in 1965 with his family when they purchased Anderson’s Nursery and Greenhouses on North Main Street and helped his parents operate the nursery until it closed. He worked several different jobs around the area, most recently with Nickelson’s Needlefast Nursery in Ludington. You could usually find Tom riding around in or working on his beloved Dodge truck.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Cora, and his brother David Courteau, and his brother-in-law Robert Hager. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters Susun Hager of Spring Lake, Robert (Nancy) Courteau of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, William Courteau of Lansing, Judith (David) Mordis of Belmont, Gail (Gordon) Larsen of Greenville, James (Cindy) Courteau of Ashland City, Tenn., Theresa (Herb) Moore of Grants Pass, Ore., and Steven (Hope) Courteau of Allendale; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held for Thomas at Scottville Brookside Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his parents and his brother David.
