Petunia Parade to host community thank you Saturday
LUDINGTON — The Ludington Petunia Parade will hold a community thank you on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Rotary Park. The organization is responsible for the purchase, planting, upkeep, and removal of 42 blocks of petunias along Ludington Avenue, Ferry Street, and Loomis Street. The petunias were planted in May and will be removed this week, with the majority being removed on Saturday.
The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and will include ice cream, donated by House of Flavors, and cake. It is intended for volunteers who supported the petunia parade.
“We are so thankful to the dozens of volunteers who help make the Petunia Parade possible each year,” said Mary Lou Ohnsman of the Ludington Petunia Parade. “There are just so many people and organizations who help in various ways. We wanted to just find a way to thank them.”
Last Friday the Petunia Parade held a dollar drop fundraiser at Rotary Park, raising $1,300.
