Obituary: Lillian Seiy, 80, of Ludington, formerly of Custer
Lillian Beatrice Seiy, 80, of Ludington, formerly of Custer, passed away July 21, 2023. Lillian was born May 29, 1943, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Nash) Ray. Her father was a lumberman and she lived with her family in a one-room log cabin until she was 17. Later in life she lived next to her future husband, Gary Seiy. He invited her to the Mackinaw Island Lilac Festival with the Scottville Clown Band, making it their unofficial first date. From there, their love story began. On June 22, 2002, Lillian married her love, Gary and spent 21 wonderful years with him.
Lillian worked hard to provide for her family, spending over 30 years as a machine operator at Straits Steel and Wire Company. She finally retired in 2005.
Lillian was loving and independent. She experienced a lot of hardships throughout her life but didn’t let that stop her. Lillian was the backbone of her family; she took care of her children and any other family member that needed help. She was a born again Christian and took great pride in her faith. Lillian loved fishing, spent many hours crocheting doilies earlier in her life, and loved bingo so much she played until the day she died.
Lillian is survived by her husband, Gary Seiy; siblings, Edie (Dave) Lilleberg, Dorothy (Mike) Monroe; children, Brenda Miller, Terry Dutton, and Eric Dutton; grandchildren, Matthew Dutton, Stephanie Sodders, Jessica (Dutton) Pitre, Jacob Dutton, Theresa Dutton, Brittany Dutton; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Ray and Florence Nash; brother, Clifford Ray; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Patty Ann.
Lillian will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, www.oakgroveludington.com.
