Scottville honors Ludington’s sesquicentennial

Ludington Mayor Mark Barnett, left, receives a proclamation from Scottville Mayor Marcy Spencer.

LUDINGTON — The Scottville Clown Band and Scottville mayor paid tribute to the City of Ludington Wednesday evening during the Sesquicentennial Concert at Waterfront Park. The concert was sponsored by the Mason County Historical Society and featured the Clown Band, which is observing its 120th year.

Though the temperature was cool and the fog was thick, a crowd filled the green space surrounding the pavilion. This was the first time the band has performed at Waterfront Park since 2019.

Scottville Mayor Marcy Spencer presented a proclamation from Scottville City Commission to Ludington Mayor Mark Barnett, congratulating Ludington on its 150th anniversary (see proclamation below).

“The Clown Band’s roots date back to 1903, just 30 years after the incorporation of Ludington and 14 years after the incorporation of Scottville, making it one of, if not the, oldest organizations in Mason County,” Rebecca Berringer, executive director of the historical society said when introducing the Clown Band.
