Obituary: Kathryn Vanderpool, 80, of Fountain
Kathryn “Kathy” Veva Vanderpool, 80, of Fountain, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023. Kathy was born May 6, 1942, the daughter of Theodore Earl Lint and Beulah Leiliah (Greenwood) Lint. Kathy graduated May of 1959 from high school in Palo, Iowa. On December 6, 1960, she married the love of her life, Charles William Vanderpool. She earned her commercial driver’s license (CDL) and became a bus driver for Holly Schools in Holly. Along with being a bus driver and maintaining her family she helped tend to her farm with her husband.
Kathy was a faithful member of Bachelor Evangelical Church in Fountain. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and watching scary movies. Kathy had the upmost love for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her pets. She also very much enjoyed being outside. You could find her gardening, fishing, or camping. Kathy loved her Trike Honda, being on the pontoon, and RVs.
Kathy is survived by her siblings, Karen (Vanderpool) Overton of Bettendorf, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Vanderpool, and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Vanderpool; children, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Rhonda Vanderpool) DeEulis, Mr. and Mrs. Randall Vanderpool, Regina (Vanderpool) Prys, Mr. and Mrs. Alan (Renee Vanderpool) Machiela, and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Vanderpool; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore “Ted” Earl and Beulah Leiliah (Greenwood) Lint; husband, Charles Williams Vanderpool; and brothers, Jess, Evert, and Ronnie Lint.
In the wise words of Kathy, “Life is not an easy road to follow. But try your best no matter what comes your way. God will be there beside you all the way. Amen. Don’t let fear get in the way of your happiness and welfare. Listen to God’s word for He will not lead you wrong. Depend on him to lead and listen to Him. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is waiting on you. What are you waiting on?”
