One dead following three vehicle crash on US 10-31

AMBER TOWNSHIP — One person died as a result of a three vehicle crash that occurred about 3 p.m. today, March 15, on US 10-31 between Amber and Quarterline roads. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, who was on the scene, a Hyundai Accent passenger car was eastbound on US 10-31, traveling in the right lane when it veered across into westbound traffic, side-swiping a white Ford F-150 pickup truck and then colliding with a Ford Super Duty F-150 pickup truck.

The driver of the Hyundai died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Super Duty pickup was transported by ambulance to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Cole said. The driver of the other pickup sustained minor injuries and refused medical transportation.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 2:58 p.m. and included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Scottville Police Department, Scottville Fire Department, Custer Fire Department and Life EMS.

Cole said the names of the victims will be released upon notification of relatives.

US 10-31 was closed between Amber and Stiles roads.

The crash remains under investigation.
