Jaycees win state awards
MT. PLEASANT — The Ludington Area Jaycees organization recently received multiple awards during the Junior Chamber International (JCI) conference. Awards received included:
- Best Overall United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Project: Putt Putt For A Purpose, Ludington Area Jaycees Mini Golf community donations.
- Best Inter-Organization Collaboration Project: Trunk and Treat, Jaycees decorated a vehicle as a gum ball machine during the Department of Health and Human Services trunk or treat event.
- Best Long Term Local Community Development Project: Ludington Area Jaycees Freedom Festival.
Additionally, Ludington Area Jaycees member Amanda Wingelaar won the First Timers Competition. Out of the 12 first timers competing, Wingelaar scored highest from attending the trainings, researching Jaycees history, talking with Jaycees, past and present Jaycee presidents and senators, and writing up her responses to questions. She will have free registration to the next conference.
Mary Burden won 2022 Most Outstanding JCI Michigan Senator. As a Jaycee Senator, Mary mentors Jaycees in trainings, projects, and history within the local and state Jaycee organization..
The Jaycees mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. Membership consists of young persons, ages 18 – 40, who address problems by creating sustainable solutions, while developing personal and professional leadership skills.
