NEWAYGO — The Mason County Central High School Pep Band went on the road Wednesday evening, to perform during the MCC girls junior varsity and varsity basketball games against Newaygo High School. MCC band director Caleb Schulz, who began working at MCC last fall, is a graduate of Newaygo High School. The MCC band members performed alongside the Newaygo band members.
“It was a fun night of combined pep band music,” Schultz said. “I’m thankful to Brandon Listh (Newaygo band director) for being such a gracious host. I’m also grateful to MCC Varsity Coach Mike Weinert and Newaygo athletics for letting us come. It’s rare for high school pep bands to travel but this was a great experience for the students.”
MCC’s JV team lost to Newaygo 34-28. The varsity won 50-36, increasing its record to 10-1.
