Preparing for the concert

Scottville Fall Festival kicks off with The Verve Pipe tonight.

SCOTTVILLE — The popular Grand Rapids-based band The Verve Pipe will make its second appearance in Scottville tonight when it performs a free concert downtown beginning at 8 p.m. The concert is sponsored by West Shore Community College and the City of Scottville.

The Verve Pipe performed in downtown Scottville in 2010 during the Scottville Music Festival, an event that was held in 2008, 2009 and 2010. It also performed in 2013 at L.F. Peterson Auditorium in Ludington as part of the WSCC Performing Arts Series. Tonight’s concert is the kick-off WSCC’s 2022-2023 Performing Arts Series. Read more about The Verve Pipe here

State Street (US 10) will be closed beginning today at noon and the 100 block of North Main Street will be closed beginning at 10:30 a.m. today. US 10 detour will be North Columbia Avenue to Broadway Avenue to North Reinberg Avenue and South Columbia Avenue to East Second Street, to South Main Street, West First Street and South Reinberg Avenue. The Scottville Shell Station will be closed to traffic but will be open. Both streets are expected to be re-opened no later than 8 p.m. Saturday.

Alcohol sales will be available during the concert by Charlie’s Bar and North Branch Winery. Because the 100 block of South Main Street (downtown) is a social district, alcohol purchased from these facilities will be allowed in the street. All other alcohol is prohibited, due to state liquor laws. Concert goers are asked to not put chairs on the sidewalks.
