LUDINGTON — When students and staff at Ludington High School and OJ DeJonge Middle School return to school on Tuesday, Sept. 6, they will notice some changes bus drop off and pick up and parking, due to construction taking place at the secondary complex.
There are significant changes to high school student parking. Students will enter from Russel Street (accessible from Staffon Street) and park in a new area located to the east of the middle school. The new parking lot can accommodate 125 vehicles. There is limited parking, reserved mostly for high school staff in the L.F. Peterson Auditorium parking lot. Middle school staff will park in the Donald C. Baldwin Community Pool parking lot and in the parking lot north of the middle school near the tennis courts.
High School Principal Dan Mesyar explained that construction on the new parking lot was delayed due to the bidding process and higher than expected bids.
Bus drop off and pick up will now take place on North Washington Avenue in front of the complex, rather than at the turnaround on the west side of the middle school. High school parent drop off and pick up will take place on South Washington Avenue just north of the Anderson Street intersection and also on Anderson Street east of Washington Avenue. Middle school parent drop off and pick up will take place on Tinkham Avenue on the north side of the school.
