East Lake man arrested following motorcycle chase.
SCOTTVILLE — Ryan Lee Pratte, 33, of East Lake was arrested by the Scottville Police Department after a motorcycle chase that began at 2:02 a.m. on Saturday July 23, 2022.
Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies encountered a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on US-31 and attempted to stop the motorcycle but was not able to safely do so.
Deputies were able to radio ahead to the Scottville Police Department to advise the motorcycle was heading towards town, according to SPD Chief Matt Murphy.
“Scottville officers were able to locate the motorcycle traveling east on First Street near Reinberg Avenue. Scottville officers attempted to make a stop on the motorcycle and the motorcycle took off at very high rate of speed through the streets of Scottville. The driver of the motorcycle eventually attempted to hide the motorcycle and conceal himself in a camper at the intersection of Reinberg and Broadway avenues,” Murphy said.
Pratte was located and arrested and lodged in the Mason County Jail. He was arraigned Sunday, July 24 by the Mason County magistrate and charged with fleeing a police officer third degree and fourth degree, both felonies.
Bond was set at 10% deposit of $5,000. A preliminary examination in Mason County’s 79th District Court will be held on Aug. 10, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.
“This was a very dangerous situation for everyone involved,” Murphy said. “I’m happy deputies from the Mason County Sheriffs Officer and officers from Scottville Police Department were able to resolve this situation safely and I’m glad no one was hurt in the process.”
