July 4 traffic restrictions announced. 

The following are the street closures and traffic restrictions for the Ludington Area Jaycees’ Freedom Festival activities on Independence Day, Monday, July 4:

Grand Parade (start time 2 p.m.):

Ludington Avenue: restricted beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Madison Street: Closed up through end of parade.

Downtown parking: cleared by noon.

Note that westbound Ludington Avenue from Park Street to Lakeshore Drive will be closed for a short time immediately following the parade. 

Fireworks

Stearns Park: Closed to traffic at 5 p.m. All parking is first come, first serve on July 4. Some handicap spaces will be available.

U.S. 10: Traffic along US 10 will be the main traffic routes from the City of Ludington east. There will also be eastbound and westbound traffic allowed. There will be no traffic permitted to turn north onto Jebavy Drive from US 10. Avoid the intersection of US 10 and Nelson Road, it will be barricaded. 

Tinkham Avenue/Johnson Road: Traffic will be monitored to a traffic control point at Johnson Road and Jebavy Drive. Traffic will be directed only northbound on Jebavy Drive at that intersection. Note that Nelson Road will be closed, as stated above. 

Jebavy Drive: There will be no southbound traffic allowed from Rasmussen Road and no northbound traffic from US 10 to Johnson Road. 

Rasmussen Road/Hansen Road: Traffic will be allowed to go east and west. Traffic heading west on Rasmussen Road will only be directed north on Jebavy Drive. Traffic traveling east on Rasmussen Road can move freely to Dennis Road or Stiles Road and then back south to US 10-31. 

Pere Marquette Highway: There will be no northbound traffic allowed from traffic control points at First Street, Sixth Street or Iris Road. Those traveling on Conrad Road should avoid traveling north. Avoid the intersection of Pere Marquette Highway and US 10 as traffic traveling east will remain constant and the priority before any other traffic. In other words, you’ll have to sit and wait. 

Normal traffic will be restored once fireworks traffic has cleared out of the area.
