SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central eighth graders recently held a mock congressional hearing in history teacher Collene McCormick’s class.

“Students testified and answered questions from community leaders who participated as judges,” McCormick said. “The mock hearing provided students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of United States history and principles of the United States Constitution. Student speech, voting rights,  civil rights, and search and seizure were among the topics explored.”
