VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Fire destroyed a house trailer at 1631 W. Sugar Grove Road Wednesday afternoon. About 2:20 p.m., a passerby noticed heavy smoke coming from the house located just west of Amber Road. Scottville and Hamlin Township fire departments were initially dispatched followed by Custer Fire Department, Fountain Area Fire Department and Free Soil/Meade Fire Department. The first firefighter on scene reported flames coming from the bottom of the structure, which included additions.

As of posting, it is unknown if there were occupants in the house. The house was being rented.

Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Great Lakes Energy, Fountain Fire Dept. Auxiliary, American Red Cross and Life EMS also assisted on scene.
