The following criminal proceedings took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:
Felony Arraignments
-April Lynn Somsel, 47, of 756 N. Meyers Rd., Amber Township, was arrested Feb. 13 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and fourth offense habitual offender. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 cash.
-Michaela Lou Verboam, 28, of 607 E. Danaher St., Ludington, was arrested Jan. 14 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (analogues). Probable cause hearing: TBD. Bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.
-William Rhody Dwyer, 53, of 704 E. Ludington Ave., Apt. 1, Ludington, was arrested Feb. 11 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. Bail: $2,500 personal recognizance.
-Melinda Rae Kalis, 51, of 109 S. Columbia St., Scottville, was arrested Feb. 13 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of delivery/manufacturing a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Probable cause hearing: Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. Bail: $1,000 cash.
-Ricky Lee Hendrickson, 33, of 602 E. Danaher St., Apt. 1, Ludington, was arrested Feb. 14 by the Ludington Police Department on felony charges of possession of child sexually abusive material and two counts of capturing/distributing images of unclothed person. Probable cause hearing: Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. Bail: $1,000 cash.
Misdemeanor Arraignments
-James Matthew Carrier, 33, of 1477 Lakeshore Rd., Manistee; Feb. 10; LPD; domestic violence. Pretrial: Feb. 28 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $500 personal recognizance.
Sentencings
-Erik Matthew Doffing, 30, of 212 Franklin St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Feb. 16 to transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and driving while license suspended and was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for 18 days already served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must have a substance abuse evaluation; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests; must complete alcohol highway safety education; and $425 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).
-Richard Lee James, 51, of 301 E. Court St., Apt. 509, Ludington, pleaded guilty Feb. 16 to driving while license suspended and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year and $425 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
-Allison Lee Quick, 21, of 400 W. Third St., Scottville, pleaded no contest Feb. 16 to aggravated assault and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; no contact with the victim; may not be at the victim’s address without law enforcement; must release counseling records to the court; and $515 in fines/costs.
-George Franklin Campbell, 31, of 400 W. Third St., Scottville, pleaded no contest Feb. 16 to aggravated assault and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; must release counseling records to the court; no contact with the victim; may not be at the victim’s address without law enforcement; and $515 in fines/costs.
-Tristan Roger Levine, 23, of 5919 S. Woods Rd., Branch, pleaded guilty Feb. 16 to failure to stop at the scene of an accident and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail for one year; must complete alcohol highway safety education; and $425 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
