County offers dog license amnesty.

LUDINGTON — The Mason County Board of Commissioners has authorized an amnesty period through March 31, 2022 to renew a dog’s license without delinquent fees. Any new animals will also qualify under this amnesty program. In order to purchase a license, the rabies vaccination must be current. If a current rabies vaccination is not on file with the county, please bring the vaccine certificate to purchase a license. Licenses may be purchased at the Mason County Treasurer’s Office or the Mason County Animal Control Office. Mail-in applications are available online at www.masoncounty.net on the Treasurer’s Office web page.   

The State of Michigan requires all dogs 4 months of age and older be licensed. A person who acquires a dog that is 4 months or older must obtain a license within 30 days. 

License fees:

  • Male or Female: $20, one year; $60.00, three years.
  • Unsexed (ppayed or neutered): $10, one year; $30, three years
