CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Florida — Four confirmed tornadoes struck southwest Florida early Sunday morning. One of those tornadoes came close to destroying the winter home of Fountain residents Bruce Borema and Brenda Bont. The tornado struck the trailer park where Borema and Bont live, Village of Holiday Park, and took off part of their trailer’s roof and damaged a wall.
Borema said the tornado, which struck about 6:45 a.m., damaged or destroyed several homes on their street however nobody was hurt.
“Hopefully it was a once in a lifetime experience,” Borema said.
Their home is located between Port Charlotte and Englewood.
