SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Board of Education meeting scheduled for today, Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, has been postponed due to personal and professional conflicts of several board members. The meeting has been rescheduled to Monday, Jan. 24 beginning with an organizational meeting at 6:45 p.m. and then a regular meeting at 7 p.m.
The agenda of the meeting is not expected to change.
When it meets, the board is expected to take action on hiring a new first grade teacher. Josie Stankowski, an alumnus of MCC, is being recommended for the position. Stankowski recently graduated from college and has been student teaching under the supervision of retired elementary teacher Linn Urka.
Superintendent Jeff Mount is also expected to give an update on the progress and timeline for the May 2022 bond election. The board will also schedule a special meeting for Feb. 7 for board action to call the election with the approval of the treasury application and official ballot language. Upon board action to call the election, a certified copy of the ballot language will be forwarded to the election coordinator to be placed on the May 2022 ballot. The special meeting is tentatively scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
