Repeat offender arrested for threatening deputies.
WALHALLA — Nicholas Brian Lauterwasser, 29, of 186 S. Walhalla Rd., Branch Township, was arrested Thursday by Mason County Sheriff’s Office and charged with three felonies including malicious destruction of fire or police property and two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. He also faces charges for probation violation. Deputies were called to the suspect’s home at 6:46 p.m. for a reported assault in which the suspect allegedly beaten a person, smashed a table and punched holes in walls.
According to Sheriff Kim Cole, upon the arrival of law enforcement, Lauterwasser exited the house and confronted three deputies in the driveway. He then charged at deputies, attempting to punch them with a closed fist. He was subdued, handcuffed and placed into the rear seat of a patrol car. While in the patrol car, he reportedly kicked at the plexiglas divider damaging the divider between the front and rear seats of the vehicle.
Lauterwasser was arraigned today in 79th District Court. Bail was set at $50,000, full amount. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. He remains lodged in the Mason County Jail.
On March 13, 2018, Lauterwasser was sentenced in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court to 27 months to 25 years in prison for domestic assault. He had already been on parole when he committed those offenses. See related story here.

- Knowingly assaulting a pregnant woman.
- Domestic violence third offense
- Assault a police officer (two counts)
- Assault with a dangerous weapon (two separate sentences)
- Sex offender, failture to register.
