Man arrested for aggravated domestic violence warrant after running from police.

LUDINGTON — ​A 34-year-old Ludington man was arrested by a Ludington police officer Wednesday, Dec. 22, shortly after ​4:30 p.m. in the ​700 block of North Emily Street after running from the officer when he tried to serve a warrant on him, according to Cpt. Steve Wietrzykowski.

“The man ran from the residence he was in when police knocked on the door,” said Cpt. Wietrzykowski. The officer chased the man on foot one block over to the Great Lakes Castings parking lot where the suspect surrendered. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail on an aggravated domestic assault and battery warrant issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court.

Other police activity in Mason County Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021 includes:

  • 8:04 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 58-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant for the unlawful driving away of an automobile issued by the 79th District Court, ​100 block of East Melendy Street, City of Ludington. The suspect also charged with obstructing police because she refused to come out of her home after being told she was under arrest. She eventually walked out of her home and submitted to arrest. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • ​4:31 p.m., (LPD), ​a 32-year-old Scottville man was arrested after he turned himself in to police, 300 block of North Delia Street​, City of Ludington. He had an outstanding Mason County warrant for a probation violation. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 6:14 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 freeway and Pere Marquette Highway overpass, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 8:23 p.m., (MCSO), larceny from a coin operated machine, US 10 and Nelson Road, Pere Marquette Township. A 42-year-old Ludington man was arrested after he was witnessed attempting to remove money from a coin operated game. A responding deputy witnessed the subject in the act of attempting to take money from the game.
  • 11:04 p.m., (MCSO),a 33-year-old Walhalla man was arrested for domestic violence following a 911 call reporting an assault that had reportedly taken place while the victim was driving down US 10 near Benson Road, Branch Township.
