LUDINGTON — The following criminal proceedings took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:
Sentencings
-Amanda Nichole Stefaniak, 40, of 6224 E. Free Soil Rd., Meade Township, pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to fourth-degree child abuse and was sentenced to 19 days in jail with credit for 19 days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; no controlled substances without a prescription; subject to random breath tests and drug tests; and $125 in fines/costs.
-Tammy Louise Tanis, 58, of 110 E. Melendy St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 11 days in jail with credit for 11 days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests; $20 in restitution and $230 in fines/costs. In a separate case she also pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) and transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and was sentenced to 8 days in jail with credit for 8 days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact panel; must complete outpatient counseling; and $1,005 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).
-Christy Ann Pider, 39, of 7550 E. Yonker Rd., Hesperia, pleaded guilty Dec. 14 to operating a vehicle with a forged/altered license and was sentenced to 89 days in jail with credit for 89 days served and $325 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of driving while license suspended was dismissed.
