Convicted sex offender faces prison for re-offending.

LUDINGTON — A 22-year-old Hart man, who is a registered sex offender, faces a prison term of 29-57 months after pleading guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct — victim between 13-16 years old — and second-offense habitual offender in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Alexander Cole Mayse, of 7015 N. 120th Ave., Hart, was arrested in December of 2020 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office on three felony counts of third-degree CSC. The other two counts were dismissed in exchange for his plea.
The maximum term for third-degree CSC is 15 years in prison.
Mayse was sentenced to jail in 51st Circuit Court July 21, 2020 for a conviction of attempted first-degree CSC after pleading guilty, May 12. Mayse was sentenced to serve 141 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 141 days served. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and serve five years probation.
One count of first-degree CSC, which is punishable by up to life in prison, was dismissed in exchange for his plea. The maximum penalty for attempted first-degree CSC is five years in prison.
Mayse remains lodged in the Mason County Jail on a $50,000 bond awaiting sentencing, which is set for Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.
