LUDINGTON — The following criminal proceedings took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:
Felony Arraignments
– Brittany Leigh Hernandez, 32, of 509 N. Lavinia St., Ludington, was arrested Dec. 6 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on felony charges of assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault), second offense domestic violence and driving while license suspended. Probable cause hearing: Dec. 15 at 11:15 a.m. Bail: $500 cash.
Sentencings
-Brent Ryan Wicklund, 39, of 3370 Plainfield, Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) second offense and was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for 30 days already served; one year discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol/marijuana; subject to random breath tests and drug tests; must complete outpatient counseling; and $1,005 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).
-Richard Lee James, 51, of 301 Court St., Apt. 509, Ludington, pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to pay $250 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
-Jon Howard McKinley, 32, of 5988 Orchard Ln., Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to breaking and entering and assault and battery and was sentenced to seven days in jail with credit for seven days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with the victim; and $605 in fines/costs. Charges of first-degree home invasion and fourth offense habitual offender were dismissed.
