Scottville Christmas event includes neighborhood parade.
SCOTTVILLE — The Christmas season kicks off in Scottville on Saturday, Dec. 4. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a parade that will wind through the city’s neighborhoods and ending downtown. A tree lighting will take place downtown at 7 p.m. along with an opportunity for children to meet with Santa Claus.
Fire pits will be burning downtown with s’more and hot chocolate being served. Christmas crafts and other activities will also take place downtown.
“Last year we held an emergency vehicle parade through the city’s neighborhoods,” said Scottville Police Department Chief Matt Murphy. “This went over really well and we heard a lot of positive feedback from it, so we decided to expand the parade’s entries but still run it through the neighborhoods.”
Murphy is one of the organizers of the event.
“There are a lot of people involved in decorating downtown and helping to plan this event. It’s been a true community effort,” Murphy said.
