Man sentenced to 9-60 years in prison for CSC.

LUDINGTON — A 32-year-old Mason County man with a long criminal history was sentenced to nine to 60 years in prison Tuesday, Oct. 26, for a conviction of third-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) — force or coercion.

William Geoffrey Buchanan pleaded guilty to the charge Aug. 27, and a second count of third-degree CSC was dismissed, according to court records.

Judge Susan K. Sniegowski gave Buchanan credit for 459 days served in jail.

Buchanan has a long list of felony convictions in Mason County. He was sentenced to one year and three months to 25 years in prison for aggravated domestic assault and assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder — strangulation — in 2019. He was sentenced in 2013 to two years and six months in prison for third-degree child abuse. In 2009, Buchanan was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for a two-count conviction of analogues possession, according to Michigan Department of Corrections records.
