Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on Oct. 10.

LUDINGTON — One of the three pedestrians who were struck by a vehicle on South James Street on Sunday, Oct. 10 has died from injuries sustained in the incident. Gloria Trent, 57, of Grand Rapids, passed away, according to Ludington Police Chief Timothy Kozal.

The three pedestrians were struck by a 2013 GMC Terrain Sunday, Oct. 10, shortly before 8 p.m.  at the intersection of James and Loomis streets, according to Kozal.

The three pedestrians, all Grand Rapids residents, were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital or treatment. Trent was then airlifted to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, said Chief Kozal.

The SUV was driven by a 75-year-old Emery, South Dakota woman who did not sustain any injuries. She was traveling southbound on James Street when the crash occurred.

“The case remains under investigation,” said Kozal. “It does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.”

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Ludington Fire Department assisted at the scene.
