Driver sustains minor injuries after rear-ending semi on US 31.

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — A 51-year-old driver from Norton Shores sustained minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday, Sept. 28, shortly after 11 a.m. on northbound US 31 near the rest area on ramp, according to Mason County Undersheriff Derrek Wilson.

“A passenger vehicle and a semi were both traveling northbound on US Highway 31 in the right lane near the rest area,” said Undersheriff Wilson. “The passenger vehicle rear-ended the semi trailer.”

Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021:  

• 7:10 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 near Hansen Road, Custer Township.
• 1:36 p.m., (Ludington Polic Department), a 20-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving without a license, Loomis and Rowe​ streets, City of Ludington.
• 8:33 p.m., (MCSO), a 23-year-old Branch man was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued in Mecosta County, 500 block of South Walhalla Road, Branch Township. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 11:16 p.m., (MCSO), a 58-year-old Mason County man was arrested for home invasion following a 911 call from the victim/homeowner, 1300 block of West Marrison Road, Riverton Township. Deputies arrived on scene and located the man inside the residence where he was taken into custody and later lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021:

• 6:06 a.m., (MCSO), a 43-year-old Davidson, Michigan man was arrested for third-offense operating while intoxicated (OWI) following a traffic stop, Ludington Avenue near Washington Avenue, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
