FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP — A 44-year-old Crestview, Illinois man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies Friday, Aug. 13, shortly before 8 p.m. for a felony of assault by strangulation in the 7200 block of North Poplar Road following a 911 call reporting an assault, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The following is other police activity in Mason County over the weekend:

Friday, Aug. 13, 2021:

• 12:26 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township.
• 2:04 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 27-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear, 600 block of East Danaher Street​, City of Ludington. One warrant was issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court, and the other was issued by Oceana County’s 78th District Court. Both warrants are listed as traffic offenses as the original charges. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• ​3:30 p.m., (LPD), ​a 59-year-old Ludington man was arrested for violating a personal protection order, public intoxication and disorderly conduct, 300 block of West Filer Street​, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 4:41 p.m., (MCSO), a 24-year-old Ludington man was cited for driving while license suspended (DWLS) following a traffic stop, Pere Marquette Highway and Chauvez Road, Pere Marquette Township. 
• 5:11 p.m., (MCSO), larceny, Mason County Fairgrounds, Pere Marquette Township. A booth vendor reported bracelets stolen from a display.
• ​9:08 p.m., (LPD), ​a 36-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a prior charge of resisting an officer, 100 block of West Ludington Ave​nue, City of Ludington. The warrant was issued by Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 11:18 p.m., (MCSO), a 47-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI) following a traffic stop, Jagger Road and Rath Avenue, Hamlin Township.

Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021: 

• 12:54 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, Sugar Grove Road west of Benson Road, Sheridan Township.
• ​1:12 a.m., (LPD), a 20-year-old Fountain man was arrested on two outstanding failing to appear warrants issued by Oceana County’s 78th District Court, ​Ludington and Washington ​avenues, City of Ludington. The original charges were traffic related. He was transferred to the custody of an Oceana County deputy at the county line.
• 10:14 a.m., (MCSO), a 23-year-old Manistee woman was cited for DWLS following a traffic stop, US 31 and Hoague Road, Grant Township.
• 4:38 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, Bryant Road and Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
• 5:03 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 62-year-old Ludington man was cited for DWLS, Iris Road near Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
• 6:45 p.m., (MCSO) a 26-year-old Ludington man was cited for operating without a license following a traffic stop, Stiles and Fountain roads, Victory Township.

Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021:

• 12:20 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, State Street west of Bean Road, City of Scottville.
• ​2:02 a.m., (LPD), a ​41-year-old Scottville woman was arrested for domestic assault and battery, Filer and Harrison ​streets, City of Ludington. The victim, a 34-year-old Scottville man, was not injured. The woman, also uninjured, was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• 11:43 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 31 off-ramp at US 10, Amber Township.
• 12:03 p.m., (MCSO), a 65-year-old Free Soil woman was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant, 700 block of West Deer Run Road, Grant Township.
