SCOTTVILLE — Scottville Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred in the 600 block of South Main Street Tuesday afternoon, an area commonly known as “river hill”. Emergency vehicles were called to the scene, located between Fifth Street and Riverside Park at 3:23 p.m. A silver Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by a 70-year-old Scottville man was northbound when the driver apparently lost consciousness, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, according to Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy. The vehicle crashed into several large rocks located near a residential driveway, and the proceeded to travel several more feet before stopping.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was checked over by emergency medical personnel on scene. He was not transported to the hospital.
Chief Murphy said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Emergency crews responding included Scottville Fire Department, Scottville Police Department, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, and Life EMS. Custer Fire Department’s extrication unit was dispatched but cancelled en-route.
