Fire destroys Grant Twp. house.

GRANT TOWNSHIP — Four fire departments responded to a fire that destroyed a house this morning, April 1, 2021, at 7065 N. Dennis Road. Grant Township Fire Department and Hamlin Township Fire Department were called to the scene at 7:43 a.m., followed by Fountain Area Fire Department and Free Soil/Meade Fire Department.
Grant Twp. Fire Lt. Brian Rakowski said the house was completely engulfed in flames when the first unit arrived on the scene. The two residents were able to escape the fire.
The house is located at the dead-end of Dennis Road along at the northeastern tip of Hamlin Lake.
Rakowski said the main concern of firefighters was protecting nearby structures, including another house.
Fountain Fire Department Auxiliary was also on scene. American Red Cross was expected to be called for assistance as well as the Mason County Fire Relief Fund.
As of 10:15 a.m. firefighters were still on scene.
