LUDINGTON — A 25-year-old homeless man was sentenced to one year in jail in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Dec. 8, for a conviction of attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC).
Ricky Todd Wilson received credit for 398 days served in jail, so he has already fulfilled his one-year sentence. Wilson engaged in “sexual penetration of a 15-year-old girl,” said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.
Wilson, who suffers from mental health issues, was found incompetent to stand trial after a mental health evaluation but was later restored to competency following treatment, said Spaniola.
Judge Susan K. Sniegowski also sentenced Wilson to five years probation. “This leaves Mr. Wilson with little room for error,” said Spaniola. Wilson’s attorney, Becky Lederer agreed. “This leaves him with little room for any error. He has been restored to competency and is on the correct medication. His medication is imperative to his success.”
Wilson is registered as a sex offender.
Sentencing guidelines in the case are 0-17 months.
He was sentenced to serve six months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term in 51st Circuit Court, Jan. 23, 2018 after pleading guilty in November of 2017 to a felony of carrying a concealed weapon. Wilson was carrying five swords when he was sneaking around the Mason County Jail the night of Sept. 15, 2017.
Tuesday’s court proceeding was conducted via Zoom video conferencing due to COVID-19 restrictions.
