Scottville commission to elect new mayor Monday.
SCOTTVILLE — City commission is scheduled to hold its annual organizational meeting Monday at which time it will select a new mayor and mayor pro-tem. According to Scottville’s charter, the commission elects the mayor and mayor pro-tem, who are voting members of the commission and serve dually as commissioners. The organizational meeting is required the first Monday following the November general election. It is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 105 N. Main St.
Bruce Krieger, who has served as mayor for the past four years, chose to not run for re-election. Krieger also served as mayor in the early 1970s.
According to the city’s charter, a commissioner who has served at least one year on the commission is eligible to become mayor or mayor pro-tem. Eligible commissioners include Marcy Spencer (current mayor pro-tem), Sally Cole, Rob Alway, and Brian Benyo. The commission will also address the vacancy left behind by Krieger as no one chose to run for election of that seat. In response, the commission will need to appoint a commission to fill the seat.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is limited public space at the meeting. The meeting will also be streamed live via Zoom. Get the link here. Meeting ID 817-2591-3817; passcode 49454; call-in audio 312-626-6799.
