Around the County is a new video series that will focus on human interest events in our communities.Â
FREE SOIL TOWNSHIP — The Michigan Police Unity Team rode its bicycles through Mason County today, stopping at the memorial of Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield on North Custer Road. The team of 28 bicyclists consists of active and retired law enforcement officers. The team also includes 10 support personnel. It was escorted through Mason County by the Michigan State Police, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Scottville Police Department, Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, and Little River Band of Ottawa Indians law enforcement. Paul Butterfield was murdered on the site on Sept. 9, 2013.Â
