LASD teacher charged with malicious destruction of property.

LUDINGTON — Kelley Rae Chapman, 53, a Ludington Area School District teacher, has been charged with a felony charge of malicious destruction of personal property valued between $1,000 to $20,000, according to a press release from the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The charges arose out of an incident that took place in the city of Ludington. The alleged victim in the incident is a 53-year-old man. Chapman allegedly was asked to return an item, a trophy, to the victim and instead used it to vandalize his car. She was arrested by Ludington Police Department.

The charge is punishable by imprisonment of five years and/or a $10,000 fine, or three times the amount of destruction or injury, whichever is greater. Upon arraignment, her bond was set at 10% of $5,000.

A preliminary examination in 79th District Court is scheduled for March 25 at 11:15 a.m.
